Iowa vs Michigan College Football Preview
Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Preview: Forced Out of Their Comfort Zone
After barely squeaking past Iowa State, Iowa was able to take advantage of a favorable matchup against Northern Iowa, beating the Panthers 55-0. Jaxon Dailey was smothered every time he took the field, completing just 40.7% of his passes while throwing two interceptions.
The Hawkeyes' front seven also stuffed the run at a high rate, holding the Panthers to 2.12 yards per carry.
Iowa’s dominance on defense has been on full display since the start of the regular season, as it enters Week 4 ranked in the top 25 in defensive success rate, explosiveness, havoc and points per opportunity.
The Hawkeyes' ability to create disruptions at all three levels of the field makes it difficult for opposing offenses to stay ahead of the sticks.
On the other side of the ball, Iowa’s identity on offense has remained unscathed, ranking well above league average in offensive success rate and havoc allowed while stumbling to the bottom half of the board in explosiveness.
While Hank Brown has struggled to stretch the field, the Hawkeyes' ground game has been efficient, with Kamari Moulton, Xavier Williams, Braeden Jackson and Nathan McNeil all averaging more than six yards per carry.
Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, negative regression looms large against Michigan, as they battle it out against a front seven that excels at stopping the run. This will force Iowa to lean heavier on Brown’s arm, potentially stalling out the offense if he continues to struggle to air out the ball.
If Brown can give the offense the versatility it needs by throwing vertically, then Iowa will be in a great position to secure the upset.
Michigan Wolverines Betting Preview: Legs Cover the Cracks
Another week, another questionable performance from Michigan. Do not let the final score fool you: UTEP held the Wolverines' offense in check in the first half, entering the locker room down 14-17.
This was a stunning display from Michigan, yet one that we've been accustomed to, with the Wolverines ranking outside the top 75 in success rate, explosiveness and havoc allowed.
When contained in the pocket, Bryce Underwood has flirted with turnover-worthy plays while completing 62.5% of his passes.
It's worth noting that Underwood has been able to keep the Wolverines' offense afloat by extending plays with his legs when he's able to successfully scramble away from pressure. He leads the team in rushing yards.
To help mask the offense, the Wolverines have been able to play at a high level on defense, residing near the top of the board in defensive EPA per play and points per opportunity.
By holding opponents out of scoring position, the Wolverines are able to avoid playing in highly volatile contests, making it easier to pull away on the scoreboard.
With Iowa on deck, Underwood will need to continue to find success on the ground in order to avoid being held to an early out. When off the field, Iowa’s methodical drives will keep the clock running while simultaneously chipping away at the Wolverines' total number of possessions on offense.

Iowa vs Michigan Pick, Betting Analysis
Until Underwood can connect with his pass catchers at a higher rate, it’s tough to envision how Michigan will keep drives alive.
Short throws and quick outs to the flats aren't enough to crack the Hawkeyes' defense, a group that excels at keeping opponents in front of the sticks while leading the nation in success rate.
Iowa’s ability to collapse the pocket with just the defensive line will also allow it to spy linebackers on the outside and crash down on Underwood when he tries to take off and run.
This will either force Underwood to throw under pressure or try to fight off contact in the backfield, both leading to disastrous results.
Like Iowa, Michigan is also heavily reliant on methodical drives to keep the ball moving, draining the clock in the process. With both offenses ranking 75th or lower in tempo, possessions will be at a premium, leading to a decline in the total number of scoring opportunities.
With no clear path for success, expect Iowa to bottle up the Wolverines' offense and hold it under the key number of 21.
If you want to diversify your risk, you can also bet the under on the full game total at no lower than 38, or split your wager in two and place a half-unit on each previously mentioned market.
Pick: Michigan Team Total Under 21.5 (-106)
