Wyoming vs San Diego State Preview
I’m laying the points with San Diego State.
I’m not overly impressed with Wyoming. The Cowboys have faced two of the Mountain West’s worst defenses over the past two weeks, and they’ll be playing the league’s best this week.
San Diego State leads the conference in PFF’s Rush Defense grades, Tackling grades, Coverage grades, and Special Teams grades. The Aztecs are allowing just 88 rushing yards per game at 2.7 yards per rush.
At the same time, San Diego State has rushed for over 200 yards in three straight weeks. Jayden Denegals emergence as a passer has unlocked the offense.
Wyoming has no pass rush, ranking 131st nationally in Havoc. Denegal will have the time in the world to go through his progressions, let the routes develop, and throw it all over the field.
Wyoming wants to run the ball, but the Pokes aren’t very explosive. I don’t foresee them running the ball on San Diego State, which will force Kaden Anderson to beat the defense through the air — and that also won’t happen, considering the Aztecs can blanket Wyoming’s two most explosive receivers.
Pick: San Diego State -10.5 (-110, bet365)
