Green Bay opened as a 3.5-point home favorite, and the spread has remained relatively stable despite a few books touching -4.5. The total has moved more, opening as low as 46.5 at some books, climbing to 48.5 and settling back around 47.5. Green Bay continues to play low-scoring games. The offense hasn't consistently finished drives. Jordan Love threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns against Detroit, but he needed 45 attempts, while the running game produced only 60 yards at 3.2 per carry. Green Bay entered Week 7 near the bottom of the league in rushing efficiency, third-down conversion rate and red-zone touchdown rate, creating more field-goal opportunities than touchdowns.
Carolina doesn't give me much reason to expect a shootout either. The Panthers are coming off a 43-13 home loss to Tampa Bay in which Bryce Young was sacked five times. Tampa Bay also ran for 258 yards, and if Green Bay can finally establish its ground game against Carolina, that should keep the clock moving and reduce the number of possessions.
This matchup went low last season as well, with Carolina winning 16-13 at Lambeau for just 29 combined points.
I can see Green Bay covering -3.5, but the moneyline around -185 is too expensive for my taste. The Under is my preferred play, and the price around -112 comfortably clears the -200 minimum for ACTION26.
