Bengals vs Broncos Monday Night Football Preview
Bengals-Broncos Over/Under Analysis
By Kyle Murray
This game projects as an under play for me. Both offenses have been lackluster, as they are in the bottom 15 in overall efficiency, with the Bengals being in the bottom three.
The Bengals defense has also been better than I expected this season. They are about league average, and with the Broncos defense grading out as one of the better units in the NFL, the Bengals could struggle to produce points with Jake Browning under center.
Don't Discount the Bengals
It’s hard to get much uglier than the Bengals’ Week 3 showing in Minnesota, where the Vikings dropped 48 points on Cincy in a 38-point beatdown.
Jake Browning did not look the part of a serviceable backup to the injured Joe Burrow, throwing two interceptions and taking three sacks. The Bengals overall committed five turnovers in that contest.
The Bengals are bottom three in Offensive DVOA both passing and rushing. Their offensive line has been expectedly awful – that’s reflected in Chase Brown’s output this season (47 rushes for 93 yards; 2 YPC).
While this all sounds bad for the Bengals, the Broncos aren’t exactly a juggernaut.
Denver’s defense ranks outside the top 10 against the pass and run. And on offense, Bo Nix has the worst PFF grade among qualified quarterbacks.
Bengals vs Broncos Prediction, Betting Analysis
This is a great buy-low spot on the Bengals at +7.5 on the spread. That number gives far too much respect to the Broncos.
Backing the Bengals undoubtedly doesn’t feel great, so here are some trends:
Underdogs from Week 3-forward coming off a loss of 35+ points are 69% against the spread (ATS)
Road teams coming off a 24+ point ATS loss are 62% ATS.
Underdogs of four points or more in Week 4, when coming off a loss by 31+ points have hit at a 68% rate ATS historically
Picks:
- Under 44.5 (-110) — Kyle
- Bengals +7.5 (-110) — Brandon
Spread
The Bengals are coming off a really bad loss to the Vikings, but there is value on Cincinnati at +7.5 in this spot.
Moneyline
Neither of our experts have a play for either side of the moneyline.
Over/Under
With both offenses proving to be lackluster thus far, our expert Kyle Murray likes the under for this MNF game.
