Browns vs Patriots Preview, Week 8 Prediction
The Browns come into this matchup riding high after flexing their muscle on the defensive side of the ball against Miami.
However, the goal is to have that great defensive play travel to Foxborough.
They should succeed in doing so — while the Patriots' offense has been humming of late, the Browns have the tools to disrupt their groove. New England runs the ball at the eighth-highest rate and has not been efficient in doing so, ranking 27th in yards per carry.
Meanwhile, the Browns are the toughest team against the run, ranking first in yards per rush allowed. Although it doesn't end there.
Drake Maye has gotten a load of praise lately, but his offensive line is bound to plague him today.
The Patriots are 28th in sack rate allowed and the Browns are eighth in sack rate defensively. Not to mention their secondary has been too bad, either, ranking 13th in yards per pass allowed.
We've gone over just how challenging the matchup is for the Patriots offensively, but their defense will have the opportunity to match Cleveland's.
The Browns' offense has been searching for answers, and they have found one in rookie running back Quinshon Judkins.
Judkins has been a tremendous spark for the Browns, but the lack of a supporting cast makes his efforts unsustainable — especially when the Patriots are third in yards per rush allowed and the Browns are 28th in yards per carry.
New England has the opportunity to negate the Cleveland run game and put the weight on rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
Gabriel has struggled mightily since taking over the starting job, averaging just 5.1 yards per pass and completing 59.8 percent of his passes.
