Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview: Daniel Jones Ain't It

The Colts are in a brutal situational spot, hitting the road for Pittsburgh immediately after playing a game in London. Historically, road games following international travel are a disaster.

On the field, the Colts' recent production is actually quite misleading.

If you look at the box score from last week, Indy was outgained 5.2 to 3.9 yards per play against a Commanders team that was down to its third-string quarterback and missing Terry McLaurin.

The Colts defense has holes everywhere and currently ranks 30th in pressure rate. Offensively, Daniel Jones looks completely broken. He has the lowest air yards in the league (excluding Cooper Rush), with his aDOT plummeting from 8.6 last year to 6.2.

Worse yet, Jones has been the worst quarterback in the league under pressure: 21-of-44 for 198 yards, one big-time throw, and six turnover-worthy plays.

Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview: Rest Advantage

The Steelers are coming off extended rest following a loss, creating a huge rest and prep advantage against a jet-lagged Colts squad in this spot.

Offensively, Aaron Rodgers still struggles against quick, interior pressure, but he has been very good when kept clean.

Fortunately for Pittsburgh, the Colts generate zero pass rush. Rodgers should have clean pockets to operate heavy personnel sets and pick apart the middle of the field.

Defensively, Pittsburgh is dealing with injuries in the secondary — Jamel Dean is questionable and Jalen Ramsey is nursing a wrist issue — but the Colts simply don't have the personnel to exploit it without Alec Pierce, and Daniel Jones is terrified to throw the ball deep (1-of-6 on deep passes with an INT this season).

Colts vs Steelers Prediction, Betting Analysis

I am laying the points with the Steelers -2.5. This number should be a full -3 given the extreme situational mismatch.

This is a matchup between a rested Steelers team at home facing a Colts squad flying back from London with a quarterback who completely falls apart under pressure.

Pittsburgh's defense should be able to wreak havoc, and Aaron Rodgers will likely dissect this toothless Indianapolis pass rush.

Pick: Steelers -2.5 (-110)
