Both teams sit at 1-2 and share first place in the NFC South, but they're trending in very different directions: New Orleans dropped a shootout to the Raiders, while Atlanta looked like a different team behind a returning Michael Penix Jr.

PREDICTION

New Orleans holds the edge on Kalshi, even with Atlanta getting the extra rest after a Thursday night game. The Saints have put together one of the league's most productive passing attacks through three weeks, led by Tyler Shough and Chris Olave, and that unit lines up well against a Falcons defense that's struggled to slow anyone down through the air. Atlanta still has a path with Bijan Robinson, who ran for nearly 200 yards against Green Bay, but Michael Penix Jr. is just one start into his return from a long injury layoff. That gap in offensive consistency is why the market keeps leaning toward the home team.

New Orleans and Atlanta have played three straight games under 40 combined points, but this matchup sets up differently. Atlanta's defense has been outstanding against the run and shaky against the pass, lining up as an easy target for Tyler Shough and Chris Olave. On the other side, Atlanta's ground game, powered by Bijan Robinson's near-200-yard outing last week, faces a Saints defense that's given up more rushing yards than almost any team in the league. Both offenses have a clear advantage to lean on, which makes 47.5 look low for a Monday night matchup with this much firepower on both sides.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints: Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football closes out a short week for the Falcons, who get an extended rest advantage after playing last Thursday in Green Bay. The Saints, fresh off a home loss to the Raiders, now have to regroup fast against a division rival they dropped both meetings to a year ago.

Of the two angles here, the total stands out the most. Atlanta's pass defense and New Orleans' run defense are both among the league's more exploitable units, and each offense is built to attack exactly that weakness. Shough already has one of football's higher-volume passing games, Olave has been productive early, and Robinson is coming off one of the best rushing performances of his season. That's a lot of firepower lined up against defenses that haven't been able to stop the thing they're worst at, and it points toward a number this low getting cleared.
