Seahawks vs Bears Preview

This Monday Night Football game features a battle of USC quarterbacks as Caleb Williams faces Sam Darnold just days after the unranked Trojans upset second-ranked Ohio State at The Coliseum.

The Bears are entering a fierce Seattle environment that is often uncomfortable to play in due to fan noise. The reigning champion Seahawks have struggled this year, but still own a respectable 4-3 record. The 5-2 Bears were missing star QB Williams for three of their seven games this season, yet managed to lose only one game in that span.

Also, both teams are getting healthier and seeking reinforcements via trade. Chicago just made the biggest splash of the season with the acquisition of DT Jeffery Simmons. However, it is fair to assume his workload could be limited after arriving within the week.

Seattle is in talks for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, but it is activating rookie Jadarian Price and veteran Zach Charbonnet for tonight's game. Nevertheless, this is a potential NFC Championship Game preview, even with the rosters remaining as constructed.

Darnold, like Williams, missed time this season due to an injury, yet has not returned to form. Darnold has thrown an interception in five straight games since returning from his glute issue and will be facing a Bears defense ranking 15th against the pass by DVOA (via FTN).

This Bears defense is strengthened by the addition of the aforementioned Simmons and will be at an advantage against a Seahawks offensive line missing LT Charles Cross. Although the Seahawks are at home and favored tonight, it is only by three points, and they will have the field shrunk without speedy WR Rashid Shaheed.

The Bears are also a bad coverage matchup for Darnold. He ranks as having the seventh-toughest matchup of the week (via FantasyPoints). Darnold's anytime interception prop is the first leg of the parlay (-105).

With Shaheed out, veteran Cooper Kupp should be a bigger part of the game plan for Seattle. He has played the second-most snaps at WR, yet has the team's fourth-most targets.

The Bears play the fourth-most man coverage and 10th-most single-high safety in football. Kupp's targets (22%) and yards (1.78) per route spike against man coverage, and they are higher against single-high safety looks as well.

Take Kupp to go over his 29.5 receiving yards prop (-113) as our second leg, despite only going over in three of seven games this season.

Lastly, we look at budding star WR Luther Burden for Chicago. With Seattle's defense playing the league's most zone coverage and sixth-most two-high safety coverage, Burden can benefit.

Like Kupp, Burden's statistics jump against both of these coverages. His yards (3.07) and targets (28%) per route specifically jump against zone.

The Bears will struggle to run the ball against Seattle's third-ranked rush defense, especially without RB2 Kyle Monangai. Burden's talent is not only as a receiver, but as a YAC specialist who can line up all over the backfield or line of scrimmage.

He will be necessary as a pseudo-RB tonight for Chicago to move the ball downfield. Expect Burden's usage to continue increasing and take his over 4.5 receptions (+115) as this parlay's final leg.

Seahawks vs Bears Same-Game Parlay

  • Luther Burden Over 4.5 Receptions (+115)
  • Sam Darnold Over 0.5 INT (-105)
  • Cooper Kupp Over 29.5 Rec Yards (-113)

Parlay Odds: +691 (DraftKings)
