Premier League: Newcastle can get off the mark, sharp money on Saints article feature image

We've already arrived at week three in the Premier League season, and there are two matches on Saturday worth a look.

West Ham (+215) at Newcastle (+133), Draw (+215)

Both of these teams come in without a point and one of them, Newcastle, has yet to find the back of the net. Last weekend, 10-man West Ham fought back from 2-0 down and looked destined to grab a point before an injury-time penalty sunk them.

Interestingly enough, there have been rumors swirling that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez could replace West Ham's Slaven Bilic if the latter is shown the door.

Newcastle were a bit unlucky to lose against Huddersfield last week, but the Tyneside club haven't been convincing yet. Still, Benitez is a sharp tactician and should have his team in position to put in a good shift in front of their fans.

There's value on the home side in this one.

Southampton (+102) at Huddersfield Town (+255), Draw (+235)

Before this season started, Huddersfield Town were the favorites to be relegated. Two wins later and the Terriers are the early-season darlings of the Premiership.

Southampton have had a weird start to the year and didn't look interested when they fell to Championship side Wolverhampton in a mid-week cup tie. Still, Saints can claim to be unfortunate not to have two wins in their first two matches, as they dominated their opening weekend 0-0 draw with Swansea.

Earlier this week, we expressed caution in backing Huddersfield, and the Terriers will have the public behind them, even though the price on Saints is shortening.

This is a case of one team that has been on the right side of a couple of coin flips and another who has seen some poor luck so far. On paper, Southampton are the better side, and the market is reflecting that. In a slate that doesn't offer much in terms of attractive bets, a small play on the away side isn't a bad move.
