Bantamweight contender Joshua Greer Jr. (22-1-1, 12 KO) will headline Top Rank Boxing’s Tuesday night card on ESPN (8 p.m. ET) against Mike Plania (23-1, 12 KO). Greer, a Chicago native, is hoping a win can push him into a potential title fight as he is near the top of the rankings in the IBF and WBO.

The 10-round bout will be the last of a five-fight card that will take place without fans inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas bubble set up for Top Rank fighters.

Greer is a sizable favorite in this fight (-360) and has an implied probability of 73% to come away with the odds leaning toward a decision win. The over/under for this 10-round fight is set at 8.5 rounds and based on the odds, the over is very likely at -560.

Greer has a boisterous personality and he's confident in his power as evidenced by the fact that he brings a pillow to every fight and says "night, night" before the start of every bout. He has lighting quick hand speed and his reputation as a finisher was gaining steam as he racked up seven stoppage wins between 2017 and 2019. In his past to fights, however, Greer won by close decisions.

Plania has a much lower profile than Greer, but has been solid winning his past eight fights heading into tonight's matchup. He is actually moving down in weight for this fight, which could make him the bigger fighter between the two.

The odds suggest that this fight goes the distance 75% of the time (-400) and that the over on 8.5 rounds (-560) has a 79% chance of cashing. Those prices are just too high to touch so I would suggest leaning toward winning method props.

As stated before, Greer is the better fighter in this matchup and he should be able to control the pace and land combinations with his superior hand speed. Plania's only loss was by unanimous decision and with Greer's power a bit questionable in his past two fights I don't think I would expect him to come away with a late round finish.

That leaves Greer to win by decision (-177), which I think is the safest bet you can make for this fight. I'll likely shy away from betting this fight at all, but it's not a bad idea to shop around for a line better for Greer to win on the cards.
