Here's everything you need to know about Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia McCrory on Saturday, April 20 – our expert boxing prediction and pick.

Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia's super lightweight title fight is finally happening, and as the tagline goes, "This count counts."

This is somewhat of a Game 7 between the two. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is defending his WBC title against Garcia (24-1, 21 KOs) in what will be their first matchup as pros. They were 3-3 in the amateurs, but the betting line – and their pro arcs – haven't at all reflected this.

Haney has much more pedigree and is, frankly, the better boxer. He's been the undisputed champion at lightweight and is now the champion at 140 pounds after easily beating two-time champion Regis Prograis late last year.

Garcia's been an interim world champion at lightweight, but if you pair up their resumes, Haney's beaten the best seven or eight guys between the two, at least.

But Garcia's stardom and speed, combined with Haney's excellence and ability, mark this one as a superfight – even as the champion is a heavy favorite and questions surround Garcia's mental state heading into the fight.

Here's my Haney vs. Garcia pick and prediction for Saturday night.

Haney vs. Garcia Pick & Prediction

People think Garcia is unstable, so let's start there.

The Sporting News compiled a timeline of erratic behavior that you can see for yourself, and Garcia has yet to prove he can thrive in chaos to this extent.

On Monday he tweeted: "My intention in my heart is to make Devin cry before even entering the ring at a press conference something he will be crying."

That was shortly after cryptically saying:

"I will Delete Haney in the second round.

"After I allow him to survive the first and then look at his dad in his eyes.

"And say save your son so he can enjoy some of his money.

"We will see how much he loves his son."

He says Kanye is walking him out. (Lol.)

Also, "I have every woman in my DMs."

Then, as little surprise to anyone who saw an erratic Garcia throughout fight week, he missed weight for the fight during Friday's weigh-ins.

Haney said Garcia will honor his promise of a fine: $500,000 per pound over.

That's $1.5 million in all.

Garcia? Unbothered, to say the least:

I feel great and I got a 3 pound advantage

Let’s gooo hahahahaa

Winners do what they have to do I’m still sharp

We'll keep it to in the ring otherwise, but damn it if that isn't an important note.

Anyway, Garcia's calling card is his blinding speed – though I'm not actually sure it matters whether or not he's faster than Haney because he's going up against a defensive wizard who has neutralized anyone he's ever fought. Well, then there's the Vasiliy Lomachenko debate, but he's a future Hall of Famer.

Garcia should have the power advantage, too. But again, does it matter if his best wins are against Luka Campbell, Javier Fortuna and Oscar Duarte?

Both are roughly 5-foot-8 with 70-inch reaches – Haney a touch more, but physically, the difference isn't dramatic.

Haney has been rocked before, though. Jorge Linares caught him badly in Round 10 of their May 2021 bout, a closer one than people maybe remember, but Haney was bailed out by the bell.

Garcia could catch Haney, sure, but Haney made Prograis look like a C-level fighter, and that was one of the most feared super lightweights of the past five-plus years – probably longer.

The big knock on Haney is his power. He really didn't put away Yuriokis Gamboa?!? Yeah, that was shocking – but he did dominate.

And as for Garcia, Gervonta Davis stopped him a year ago – almost exactly – and he was live in that bout for … a round? Maybe two?

Haney vs. Garcia Prediction & Pick

I don't wanna risk buying into something I maybe shouldn't, but this isn't a strictly in-the-ring fight.

This is legitimately personal, as hinted at earlier.

In the ring, Garcia still makes too many mistakes despite the flashy ability and world-level potential. He adopted a Philly shell during his fight with Duarte, which was awkward. He still leaves himself open to be countered, and Haney is exactly the guy you don't want him against in this spot.

This is not who, but how.

I see Haney winning convincingly, and most will tell you to bet him by unanimous decision, and I understand the rationale – especially with the -120 odds offered at bet365. But I really think there's more of a chance Haney stops Garcia than we expect.

I think Haney could counterpunch and outsmart Garcia into submission. I also expect a more aggressive effort from Haney, who is looking to make a statement – and this is from someone who did drop Prograis in December while not losing a minute of a round.

I think Haney will initially lay traps and pick apart Garcia from range with his defense and counterpunching, and after using Garcia's aggression against him, break him down in the latter portion of the bout.

My bets are as follows.

First: 1+ Knockdowns in the Fight at -135 on FanDuel. Garcia was dropped by the aforementioned Campbell years ago, and by Davis twice. This line was much better (-105) earlier in the week, but probably due to Garcia's recent erratic behavior, it's been shortening.

And Haney to win between Rounds 7-12 on FanDuel at +330. The decision is the safe play, but I'm sprinkling on a late stoppage.

Tank stopped Garcia in Round 7 – Garcia was accused of quitting by some – and I think Haney by stoppage needs to be given a serious look.

As an update, late Friday afternoon, we saw Haney by decision move to -105 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. It's way more bet-friendly than the -180 it was earlier in the week. Depending on how you play a late stoppage, hedging with the decision may now be worth it, especially considering Haney is more than likely to win.

Enjoy the fight and don't go broke.

The Pick: 1+ Knockdowns in Fight (-135 at FanDuel) | Haney in Rounds 7-12 (+330 at FanDuel)
