Cubs vs Tigers Preview
The Tigers offense has recently fallen into a slump, with a paltry 78 wRC+ over the last five days. They scored three runs or fewer in four of their last five games, and today might not be the best chance to snap out of it when facing Chicago's solid rookie, Cade Horton.
Horton does not go deep into games but has been reliable for the Cubs, allowing two earned runs or fewer in his previous three outings and never more than three per start this season. He has also shown great control, issuing only five walks so far.
Detroit will give the ball to Jack Flaherty, hoping that experience prevails and he gets the run support needed this time.
Flaherty has made three quality starts in a row after an awful stretch during the final days of April and the beginning of May, where he allowed four or more runs in three straight outings.
In his previous two starts against the Giants and White Sox, he only gave up one run and six hits combined while striking out 12 batters in 12 innings.
Against the Cubs, Flaherty has dominated Seiya Suzuki, Ian Happ, and Nico Hoerner, with only a hit combined in 22 at-bats, but he must pitch carefully to Dansby Swanson and Kyle Tucker. Swanson has a .444 average against him, and Tucker really has his number with two homers and six RBIs in six at-bats.
With this pitching matchup, we pick the Under for this game, supported by the Interleague Under Edge system from Bet Labs.
Cubs vs Tigers Prediction, Betting Analysis
This system targets unders in interleague (non-conference) games where both teams are winning clubs, and the market sets a modest total (7ā10).
The setup leverages:
- Solid teams (49ā100% win rate) facing unfamiliar lineups and pitchers
- Later-season matchups (game 22+), when teams settle into pitching rhythms
- Home teams favored (moneyline -260 to -110), suggesting stronger bullpens
- Undervalued run suppression due to lack of offensive familiarity
The result: profitable unders in tighter, more disciplined matchups between quality teams with limited recent exposure to each other.
