Reds vs Braves Prediction and Pick
Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene has been awesome this year, posting a 4-2 record with a 2.53 ERA and 0.82 WHIP.
But is he that good?
Probably not.
His peripherals suggest some regression (3.34 FIP), and he’s sporting a way-too-low BABIP (.215) and way too high strand rate (92%). He’s been running well, and that should change soon.
Why not here? The Braves crush right-handed pitching at home, posting a 124 wRC+ in nearly 500 plate appearances this season.
This is a perfect sell-high game for Greene and the Reds, as I expect the Braves’ bats to power them to a win.
Santiago Espinal is red-hot. He’s slashing .444/.464/.519 over the past week, smacking 12 base hits in 28 plate appearances.
He hits righties well (.321 average) and has recorded at least one hit in 16 of his past 22 games.
He’s 0-for-3 lifetime against Braves starting pitcher Gavin Holmes, but I’m willing to bet he bucks that trend on Wednesday.
