Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview: Pitching Depth to be Tested
The Milwaukee Brewers travel to California for three straight games and are trailing 2-0 in the NLCS. Needless to say, this series is most likely over.
To make matters worse for Milwaukee, it will have a severe pitching disadvantage in Game 3. While the Brewers are likely to utilize whatever bullpen depth they have left, manager Pat Murphy insinuated during his press conference that left-hander Jose Quintana will get the bulk of the work in this matchup.
Quintana put together decent surface-level results in 2025. Through 24 starts, the southpaw posted a 3.96 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.
However, his underlying metrics suggest he got away with several poor outings, considering he finished with a 5.18 xERA and .280 xBA. Quintana also ranked in the bottom half of the league in strikeout rate, walk rate, barrel rate and hard-hit rate.
Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview: Positioned to Dominate Behind Glasnow
Quintana is likely to struggle once again in this matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Over his past four meetings with them, he’s 1-2 with a 5.48 ERA.
From the other perspective, this current Los Angeles roster boasts a .435 slugging percentage and .464 expected slugging percentage across 183 combined plate appearances against Quintana.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers hand the ball to right-hander Tyler Glasnow. He was tremendous yet again in 2025, posting a 4-3 record with a 3.19 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 18 starts.
His analytics were equally dominant, as Glasnow posted a 3.25 xERA and .209 xBA. The right-hander also far outranked Quintana in strikeout rate, barrel rate and hard-hit rate.
Brewers vs Dodgers Prediction, Betting Analysis
Another key pitching disparity in this matchup is that, unlike Quintana, Glasnow has dominated Thursday’s opponent. In their two meetings this season, Glasnow posted a 0.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP.
Milwaukee has struggled mightily against Dodgers starters in this series, a trend likely to continue in Game 3. Through 79 combined plate appearances against Glasnow, this current Brewers roster owns a mere .141 batting average, .282 slugging percentage and .228 wOBA.
