The loss of Aaron Judge was supposed to be a deadly blow to the Yankees, as it has been in years past. However, it appears they didn't get the message, as New York has won six of their last 10 and still holds the top spot in the AL East.
A big reason why is the maturation of the man on the mound today, Cam Schlittler. Schlittler has developed into one of the most overpowering right-handers in the league as he comes into this start with a 1.87 ERA.
However, New York's young fireballer is overdue for some regression, with his expected stats being nearly a full run higher. The cause of that regression could generate results tonight as Schlittler's command is beginning to trend down.
According to Handigraphs, Schittler's first pitch strike rate of 63.1 percent is below average, and his CSW, which peaked at 33.2 percent, is down to 26.9 percent over his last five starts.
He faces a Blue Jays lineup that has two very different styles depending on where you are in the order. The top four are much more disciplined, will take walks, and put the ball in play at a high rate. The bottom four chase a ton, an average of over 40 percent, but their contact rate is still high.

I went over how this lineup has the potential to give Schlittler fits, but if they are going to win this afternoon, it will be up to Kevin Gausman and the arms behind him to keep this game tight.
The key to Gausman's late-career revival in Toronto has been his fastball. When his velo is up, he's able to work up in the zone and tunnel his splitter off it as well as any guy in the game.
His fastball velocity has gone up lately, sitting at 94 mph over his last five starts. That is a solid indicator of success against a Yankees lineup that has a ton of swing and miss in it.
Gausman will also be backed up by a Toronto Blue Jays bullpen, which, when rested, like they are, is the top unit in the majors, according to B.A.R.T.O.L.O.
