Giants vs Mariners MLB Betting Preview

San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

The Giants have not been a team to write home about offensively, and at first glance, that would be a shock. This is a lineup that has produced well above average against righties, posting a team wRC+ and an OPS of .739.

However, their production can be deceiving as they are more of a quantity-over-quality team when it comes to contact. San Francisco is last in walk rate and in the bottom 10 in hard-hit rate, barrel rate, and chase rate.

They hold all the qualities of a team that cannot be trusted offensively, even after a seven-run outburst last night. Mariners starter Bryan Woo is due for some sizable positive regression in the second half, with his 3.03 FIP dwarfing his season ERA of 4.23.

Woo is a strike thrower who will have a chance to be very efficient against an aggressive San Francisco lineup that does not pose much of a power threat in a pitcher's park.

Seattle Mariners Betting Preview

On the other side of this matchup, the Mariners have not met the high expectations set by last year's success. Although they are the team with the better matchup of the two in this duel of quality right-handers.

Seattle's order got a boost with the return of Julio Rodriguez, and they'll need his annual second-half hot streak to start tonight. They have to contend with Logan Webb, an All-Star who's found his groove of late.

While Webb is still an elite groundball artist, his ability to generate whiffs has dropped drastically this season. The Mariners are a team prone to chasing and striking out, but when they do put the ball in play, it's generally in the air and hard.

Giants vs Mariners Pick, Betting Analysis

The matchup has all the makings of a bounce-back spot for the Mariners.

After a 7-0 trouncing, they have a superior starter poised for better results, and a rejuvenated lineup that is bound to produce if they can remain disciplined.

Take the Mariners' moneyline as they even up the series tonight.

Pick: Mariners ML (-136, FanDuel)
