We hit this same bet with the Rockies in just three innings yesterday. I'm running it back against another exploitable right-handed pitcher from the Cardinals.
Andre Pallante is probably better than Erick Fedde, but not by much. Plus, we're getting a much better price today.
Pallante has been crushed for 12 earned runs over his past two starts. He gets ground balls at an elite rate, though the hard contact has jumped up this season.
His barrel rate has more than doubled this year compared to 2024. He's allowed career highs in hard-hit rate and average exit velocity.
Pallante's 19.4% HR/FB is probably unlucky, but he's earned some of the damage. The biggest concern today is his weak 14.9% strikeout percentage. If you can't strike out the Rockies, they can hurt you, specifically at Coors Field.
After smashing Fedde, Colorado is now up to seventh in OPS and wOBA against right-handed pitchers at home since the start of May. They're 12th in first-five-innings scoring at home and dead last on the road this season.
