For my Tuesday MLB player props, I'll be backing three hitters in Jose Ramirez, Kyle Stowers and Jose Altuve.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for the MLB games on Tuesday, July 22.
MLB Player Props for July 22, 2025
- Jose Ramirez Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + Runs Batted In (+125, DraftKings)
- Kyle Stowers Over 1.5 Total Bases (+135, Fanatics)
- Jose Altuve Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110, BetMGM)
Orioles vs. Guardians Player Props: Ramirez Won't Surprise Us
Last night, the Guardians went down 3-0 in the first inning, but it didn't take them long to get back in the game. In the bottom half of the first, Jose Ramirez tied the game with a three-run home run as the Guardians rallied for a 10-5 victory.
For Ramirez, it was his 20th home run of the year, and he now has six consecutive seasons with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
It wouldn't be a surprise if he left the yard again tonight.
Orioles right-hander Brandon Young isn't enjoying a great rookie season. He enters tonight's game at 0-4 with a 7.52 ERA and 1.78 WHIP. Left-handed batters are slashing .338/.423/.676 against him with eight doubles and five home runs in 68 at-bats.
He closed the first half by allowing seven runs and four home runs to the Marlins.
While Ramirez, a switch-hitter, has a higher batting average against left-handed pitchers, much of his power has come against right-handers. Ramirez is hitting .273 with 10 doubles, 16 home runs, 38 RBI and a .862 OPS against right-handed pitching.
He's had a hit in nine of his last 11 games, with six home runs and 16 RBI in that span.
In those same 11 games, Ramirez has cleared this line in nine games while averaging 3.9 hits + runs + runs batted in per game. That includes a game in which he didn't record a hit, but he still scored a run and drove in two more.
However, with his matchup against Young, it would be a surprise if he went hitless tonight.
Padres vs. Marlins Player Props: Don't Turn Down Price on Stowers
One of the reasons that Young had a rough close to the first half is because he gave up three home runs to Kyle Stowers, who finished 5-for-5 on the day.
While Stowers made his former team pay for trading him, he's been beating up on everyone of late.
Over the last month, Stowers is hitting .340 with 12 home runs, 27 RBI and a 1.236 OPS. He helped the NL win the All-Star Game with a home run in the swing-off round, and he has a double and three home runs coming out of the break.
Last night, Stowers hit his 22nd home run of the season off Randy Vasquez, who can be vulnerable against left-handed hitters.
Vasquez's teammate — Stephen Kolek — is as well, with left-handers hitting .280 with five doubles, six home runs and a .829 OPS in 132 at-bats. Stowers is 1-for-3 with a single against him so far.
Over his last 24 starts, Stowers has recorded two total bases 14 times for almost a 60% hit rate. At +140, that isn't a price I'm going to turn down.
He's also +450 on DraftKings for another home run today.
Astros vs. Diamondbacks Player Props: Expect This Altuve Trend to Continue
Last night, the Astros defeated the Diamondbacks 6-3. While we cashed on Eugenio Suarez, Astros second baseman Brice Matthews stole the show with his first two career home runs.
Long-time second baseman Jose Altuve was a factor as well with a fifth-inning double. Altuve is in another plus matchup tonight.
Eduardo Rodriguez has a 5.94 ERA and 1.67 WHIP on the year. Those numbers weren't helped by his last two outings, as he allowed 13 runs (12 earned runs) and five home runs in 8 1/3 innings. He's allowed 16 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and a .867 OPS to right-handed batters.
Altuve is 9-for-27 with two doubles and two home runs against Rodriguez, with many of those matchups coming when Rodriguez was in better form than he is right now.
However, that should play to Altuve's advantage tonight, who's coming in hot. In July, he's hitting .365 with seven doubles, a triple, four home runs, 17 RBI and a 1.123 OPS in 16 games.
In those 16 games, he has a hit in 13 of them, clearing two total bases 12 times.
With a 75% recent hit rate and a matchup against a struggling Rodriguez, I expect that trend to continue tonight.
