Hornets vs Knicks NBA Preview

There's not much riding on this game, as Charlotte is set to face off against the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament, and New York has secured the third spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Knicks are expected to rest their starters ahead of the playoffs, but the Hornets still have some incentive to play with an opportunity to secure home-court advantage.

The visitors in this matchup have a clear edge after topping the healthy Knicks by 11 in March. Especially given how solid they've been on defense.

Charlotte has given up the sixth-fewest points per game (106.3) since March 1 and will be up against a New York team that'll likely only give one double-digit scorer significant minutes in this matchup. However, that could create some interesting player-prop angles for Miles McBride and Jordan Clarkson.

LaMelo Ball has been the hot man for the Hornets as of late, but several members of his supporting cast will have a chance to put up better numbers than usual against the Knicks' depleted defense. Miles Bridges stands out as a prime candidate.

Coby White (calf) is probable for Charlotte. Jalen Brunson (ankle), OG Anunoby (ankle), Josh Hart (ankle), Karl-Anthony Towns (elbow), Mitchell Robinson (ankle), and Tyler Kolek (oblique) have been ruled out for New York.

Hornets vs Knicks Predictions, Betting Analysis

Miles Bridges has settled into his role as Charlotte's fourth option, but that won't stop him from being a valuable contributor.

The Hornets wing is averaging 18.6 points per game in April, which is his highest mark since November. He's also snaring a season-high 7.6 rebounds this month.

He has surpassed 20 points plus rebounds in four of his past five contests.

Bridges has scored at least 19.0 points in three of his previous five games, while shooting 52.0% or better from the field and long range.

That kind of efficiency can help him be extremely effective, even though his shot volume has steadily declined throughout the year.

Pick: Miles Bridges Over 20.5 Points & Rebounds (-112, DraftKings)
