The Toronto Raptors are finally healthy, and it completely changes the dynamic of their stat sheets.
Last year, the Raptors were missing a variety of guys—Jakob Poeltl, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley—who all missed significant time and they didn’t have Kawhi Leonard.
That injury crisis artificially inflated Scottie Barnes' raw production.
Now, entering the season fully healthy, the Raptors have all three of those guys in the lineup to run the offense and create their own shots.
Toronto also has Poeltl and Collin Murray-Boyles fully healthy to eat up the rebounding opportunities down low.
Bulls vs Raptors Pick, Betting Analysis
I think Scottie Barnes is going to be awesome this year, and he could easily be an All-Defensive First Team player.
However, because he doesn't need to carry the offense with Kawhi, Quickley, and Barrett on the floor, he is going to make his impact felt far more on the defensive end.
The 32.5 PRA line doesn't sound wildly high for a player of his caliber — but with fewer opportunities to rebound the basketball and fewer offensive creation responsibilities, there's a good chance the volume simply won't be there.
It wouldn't shock me to see Barnes put up a hyper-efficient 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists while playing lockdown defense—a great real-life game that stays safely under this inflated prop total.
