Pistons vs. Lakers
LeBron always shows out on his birthday, but I like the spot against the Pistons anyway.
I figure Ausar Thompson will be busy with Luka, and that should allow LeBron do a bit more off ball as a slasher and secondary facilitator.
LeBron has cleared this number in all four games without Austin Reaves this season.
Another key is that Detroit fouls a lot — the highest rate in the league — and LeBron's whistle is always excellent.
Kawhi just absolutely torched the Pistons. However, Lauri, Cooper Flagg, Jerami Grant, and Jalen Johnson have all had success against them recently as well.
Pick: LeBron James Over 28.5 Points + Assists (-115)
Celtics vs. Jazz
The Jazz face off against the Celtics on Tuesday night.
This is a matchup between two teams that take the highest frequency of three-pointers and have middling rebounding rates.
Given the matchup and Boston’s relative size, I’m targeting Lauri Markkanen to crash the glass.
This is a matchup where I can see Utah electing to play a bit smaller since Boston primarily has Queta on the interior.
Lauri already recorded nine rebounds against Boston back in November of this season, and I can see that carrying over tonight.
Although he’s been out most of the season, it’s relevant to remove the data with Walker Kessler for Lauri this season. In games without Kessler, Lauri has cleared 6.5 rebounds in 14-of-22 games.
This presents a slight buy-low opportunity as well, with Lauri coming off two tougher rebounding matchups against the Pistons and the Spurs.
