76ers vs Hornets NBA Preview

Both teams are on the second of a back-to-back after beginning NBA Cup play last night.

The Hornets collectively failed in D.C., losing to the Wizards 95-79 in a payback effort for Washington, which had gone down in Charlotte 110-103 this past Monday.

The 76ers hustled against the Knicks to record their second victory over the defending champs in just 10 days.

Philly protected their home floor with a 98-93 win despite sitting Jaylen Brown — hold the jokes — but we'd expect LeBron James and Joel Embiid to sit out tonight against the Hornets, while Brown could return to action.

As of this writing, James and Embiid are game-time decisions, but they're not expected to play back-to-backs this season, so you likely won't see them tonight.

Brown (knee soreness), as mentioned, sat out the win over New York but could play today.

Jabari Walker (knee), Tacko Fall (quad), Dominick Barlow (lumbar) and Ariel Hukporti (Achilles) also sat Friday.

Kon Knueppel (hamstring) nears his return to action and regular-season debut by being recalled from the G League on Friday, but his status is up in the air for today.

Coby White (calf) and Grant Williams (hamstring) were to be reevaluated following the current road trip that just ended, although nothing has been made official.

76ers vs Hornets Pick, Betting Analysis

Philly has been a terrible rebounding team, despite their play.

VJ Edgecombe will legitimately be the best rebounder on the floor tonight. He's averaging nearly eight, and this will be the first time without both Embiid and James this season.

Even if by some miracle one of them plays a back-to-back, Edgecombe has gotten seven or more boards in four straight games. He could legitimately get 10 tonight.

Moussa Diabate, if he can stay consistent like he has the last three games, should also be in line for a good one on the glass.

The Hornets starting center has pulled down 17, 9, and 12 in his last three, and with no Embiid or LeBron, he should be in for a big night on the glass.

Picks: VJ Edgecombe 7+ Rebounds (-124, DraftKings) / Moussa Diabate 10+ Rebounds (-144, DraftKings)
