Alabama vs. Michigan

QB Jalen Milroe

200+ Passing Yards (-122)

By Alex Hinton

As it prepares for the Rose Bowl, Michigan backup quarterback Alex Orji is playing pretend as Jalen Milroe for scout-team purposes.

Jim Harbaugh has spoken highly of Orji's potential, but he's never trusted Orji enough to allow him to attempt any passes, even in mop-up duty.

While Harbaugh likely didn't intend to disrespect Milroe by comparing him to a backup quarterback, Milroe won't see it that way. He might have a chip on his shoulder.

More importantly, Milroe has consistently passed for 200-plus yards with or without the chip. He's averaging 226.5 passing yards per game this year and has cleared 200 in eight of his 12 games — two of the losses were blowouts where he was pulled before the fourth quarter.

Among qualified quarterbacks, Milroe ranks third nationally in yards per attempt (10.4). Milroe is among the best deep ball throwers in the country, averaging 15.8 yards per completion. He shouldn't need many attempts to reach 200 passing yards.

Michigan is second nationally in passing yards per game allowed, but the Wolverines didn't face many elite quarterbacks in the Big Ten. Only two quarterbacks topped 200 passing yards against Michigan this year, but they were Taulia Tagovailoa (247) and Kyle McCord (260).

Additionally, Michigan has allowed 278 passing yards per game across its past two CFP appearances. If Milroe attempts 25 passes, I like his chances of surpassing 200 passing yards here.

Pick: Milroe 200+ Passing Yards (-122)

QB Jalen Milroe

Over 32.5 Rush Yards (-115)

By Action Analytics

Alabama and Michigan are squaring off in Pasadena on Monday afternoon, and according to DraftKings, these are the two best teams in the CFP, as both would be favored against the winner of the Sugar Bowl at the book.

I'm afraid I have to disagree.

I don't think Michigan is an imposing opponent for the Tide, given their strength of schedule and the relative weakness of the Big Ten this season.

Meanwhile, Milroe has run through a gauntlet, including a loss to Texas and a benching at South Florida. However, you’d be hard-pressed to find a quarterback who has improved more in college football this year.

Milroe is rocking a 90.3 Pro Football Focus grade, including an 87.7 rush grade — both are second only to Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. He ranks third in scramble yards with 479.

I expect Milroe to scramble more than usual because, credit where credit is due, Michigan's defense is excellent. The Wolverines are well-coached and well-disciplined.

Milroe should have to scramble more than a few times out of necessity. Combined with a few designed quarterback runs, he should to 35 or more rushing yards on the day.

I look forward to watching him announce himself as the 2024 Heisman favorite in California.

Pick: Milroe Over 32.5 Rush Yards (-115)

Texas vs. Washington

WR Rome Odunze

100+ Receiving Yards (-104) and Anytime TD (-150)

By Alex Hinton

Washington has three receivers that could be drafted this spring: Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja'Lynn Polk.

After a phenomenal junior year, Odunze should be the first to hear his name called.

Odunze ranks third nationally with 1,418 receiving yards and 33rd with 17.6 receiving yards per game. He's averaging a whopping 110 receiving yards per game this year, eclipsing 100 in nine of 13 games.

He's also significantly impacted Washington's two biggest games this year, racking up 230 yards and two scores on 16 catches in two contests against Oregon. However, he also racked up 100-plus yards against Utah, Oregon State and Washington State, adding six touchdowns against those three.

Odunze has found the endzone in eight of his 13 games this year. He posted at least 100 receiving yards in six of those games.

Additionally, Penix's best games this season coincided with Odunze's. If Penix throws for 300 yards, Odunze will likely have 100 of them and hopefully find the end zone.

Pick: Odunze 100+ Receiving Yards (-104) and Anytime TD (-150)
