The Colorado Buffaloes are the biggest story in sports.

There's always an interesting dynamic when comparing big stories in sports and how the public reacts by betting on them.

Deion Sanders and the CU Buffs are an incredible case study.

The Buffs were one of the more popular bets during the offseason in all different kinds of futures, including National Championship futures, College Football Playoff futures, Pac-12 futures and win totals.

Despite being a public darling, the preseason win total of 3.5 is now appearing to be a smart bet, as the Buffs are ranked No. 18 in the nation this week in the AP Poll.

Now the focus has turned to the championship futures, including the national title, where Colorado remains one of the most popular bets.

At PointsBet, Colorado to win the National Championship is the biggest liability and the most popular bet, according to the ticket count.

The Buffs opened at 300-1 to win the National Championship at BetMGM. That line has dropped down to 80-1 after two weeks of football, and BetMGM is still taking a significant amount of bets at that number.

Colorado is the biggest liability for BetMGM on the National Championship market. The Buffs are also getting the second-most tickets of any team in college football to win it all. Colorado is getting 9.9% of the bets and accounts for 7.9% of the handle.

The only team getting more tickets at the moment than Colorado is Michigan, which is getting 14.8% of the bets.
