Who Is Going to Win the Florida Senate Race?

Polymarket prices Moody at 86¢ and Nixon at 15¢, and each price doubles as a chance: 86¢ means 86%. Both moved 4¢ on the latest swing, tightening Sunday morning's 90¢ and 11¢ split. Moody has hovered near 90% for most of the race, while Nixon spiked briefly early, then settled between 10¢ and 15¢.

CandidateYes PriceLatest Move
Ashley Moody (R)86¢Down 4¢
Angie Nixon (D)15¢Up 4¢

Polymarket's prices reflect Florida's recent Senate history, which leans hard toward Republicans. Democrats last won a Florida Senate race in 2012. Since then, the GOP has won every race:

YearWinnerMargin
2012Bill Nelson (D)D+13.0
2016Marco Rubio (R)R+7.7
2018Rick Scott (R)R+0.1 (about 10,000 votes)
2022Marco Rubio (R)R+16.4
2024Rick Scott (R)R+12.8

Polls have also underestimated Florida Republicans lately. Final surveys in 2022 showed Rubio up 7 or 8 points before he won by 16. In 2024, the polling average had Scott up about 5 before he won by nearly 13.

Every recent public survey puts Moody ahead, by margins of 4 to 8 points.

Moody polls between 49% and 51%, right at the majority line, while Nixon tops out at 45%. That leaves Nixon needing nearly every undecided voter to break her way.

Issue polling adds to Moody’s cushion. At least one recent survey found her ahead on every issue tested, including cost of living, the center of Nixon’s pitch.

Moody’s lead sits right in the range where Florida Republicans have outrun their polls, which explains why Polymarket keeps her above 80¢. Nixon’s path runs through big independent margins, heavy Southeast Florida turnout, and a polling miss in the opposite direction from recent cycles. Each Yes share pays $1 if that candidate wins, and Polymarket promo code ACTION gives you $25 in bonuses to start.

What Is Happening in the Florida Senate Race?

This special election fills the final two years of Rubio’s term, so tomorrow’s winner faces voters again in 2028. Moody, a two-term former attorney general, has held the seat since January 2025. Nixon, a Jacksonville state representative, has run as an energetic outsider since her primary win.

Moody declined to debate, and Nixon has hammered that decision alongside an allegation tied to $10 million in Medicaid funds, which Moody denies. Moody answers with a "freedom or socialism" message aimed at Nixon's ties to the Democratic Socialists of America.

Both sides brought in national names for the closing stretch. President Donald Trump rallied for Moody in Fort Myers, and DeSantis endorsed her. Sanders drew roughly 1,600 people to a Tallahassee rally with Nixon.

The voting bases split cleanly. Recent surveys show Moody dominating North, Central and Southwest Florida and holding an edge with Hispanic voters. Nixon leads in Southeast Florida, wins Black voters by a wide margin, and carries voters under 35.

Independents give Nixon her best opening, since they lean her way in several recent surveys. Registered Republicans still outnumber Democrats by more than 1.5 million. Early ballots topped 4.2 million by Friday, with Republicans at 40.4% and Democrats at 38.5%.

Over the weekend, Moody campaigned with Byron Donalds in Hialeah and scheduled The Villages for Saturday, while Nixon planned eight Miami-Dade stops. Both camps spent the final days on turnout among their own voters rather than on persuasion.
