Ravens vs Browns NFL Week 6 Preview
The Ravens expressed optimism that Lamar Jackson would return from his ankle injury for this game, but he was ruled out on Friday.
"It's day-by-day," said Ravens head coach Jesse Minter to the media on Friday.
Backup QB Tyler Huntley is set to make his second start of the season after helping lead Baltimore to an upset win over the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. He completed 24-of-32 attempts for 201 yards and two passing touchdowns and added 20 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.
That said, Huntley is not Jackson. The veteran backup relies heavily on short passes and slants, significantly reducing the offense's general explosiveness. Expect another heavy dose of Derrick Henry in this one.
Baltimore's defense has been elite at defending short passes, which matches up nicely against Cleveland's current offensive limitations.
We're beating a dead horse here, but the Browns offense remains broken. They are last in rush success rate, meaning they probably won't be able to run the ball at all against a Baltimore defense that excels against the run.
Deshaun Watson ranks last in the NFL in pressure-to-sack ratio, and he has accumulated 10 turnover-worthy plays this year.
To beat the Ravens, you have to throw deep — they rank 21st in explosive passing allowed — but the Browns are currently restricted to a dink-and-dunk passing attack despite capable receivers in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston.
Defensively, the Browns tend to play out of their mind at home, but they are pretty banged up on the interior without LB Carson Schwesinger, DT Mason Graham, and DT Mike Hall.
Ravens vs Browns Prediction, Betting Analysis
With Tyler Huntley starting, this game condenses into a run-heavy, short-passing rock fight with very few explosive plays.
The game total has appropriately dipped from 42.5 to 39.5 following news of Lamar Jackson's official status.
Deshaun Watson is likely going to take killer sacks against the Baltimore front. Historically, Browns divisional home unders hit at an elite 58.6% clip dating back to 2003.
Pick: Under 42.5 (-105)
Editor's Note: The author was able to bet under 42.5 earlier in the week before Jackson was ruled out on Friday.
