Jaguars vs 49ers NFL Week 4 Preview
I'm going with the Jaguars +3.5 against the 49ers in NFL Week 4.
This is a really interesting spot for the Jaguars, going up against a 49ers team with several key injuries.
The 49ers are expecting Brock Purdy to return for this game. However, they are still without Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and just in case Purdy isn't quite back to full strength in this game, Mac Jones also got banged-up last week. They also have two corners on the injury report.
So, the health statuses of both San Francisco QBs are somewhat up in the air, in addition to all the injuries around them.
The 49ers are starting to look decimated again. Initially, I thought they were undervalued in the betting market because it was mostly backups going down early. However, they've lost so much more than that since then, and now I'm ready to go the other way.
I want to buy low on the Jaguars in a spot that has become very familiar for San Francisco.
This is typically the part of the season where the 49ers fly under the radar with no expectations. But right now, they are 3-0, and it will be tough for them to keep it up at the rate they are losing players.
Looking at the Jaguars, new head coach Liam Coen's offense has been on schedule, but the passing game is being let down by Brian Thomas. The offense has been amazing, in general; the protection, the run.
The Jaguars' defense is also much improved. They get pressure, stop the run, and they're playing coverages that better suit their personnel. But then again, the guy who lost a game for them on defense was Travis Hunter.
So, the Jaguars' best players are letting them down, but that makes this a good buy-low spot.
Jaguars vs 49ers Prediction, Betting Analysis
I'm taking the Jaguars +3.5 at the Niners this week.
Through the first three weeks of the season, Trevor Lawrence has had 13 passes dropped by his receivers, leading the entire league by a margin of four in that category. On top of that, Lawrence has made zero big-time throws on 113 attempts.
Something has to give here. The Jaguars have too much talent, and the underlying metrics for this team say they are getting better, but they have simply left a ton of points on the table.
I think the Jaguars have a lot of unrealized potential. Whereas, the Niners have a bunch of issues starting to pile up. Plus, the Niners have also been the worst team in the league at the new kickoff coverage. Their special teams are a mess.
So, I’m backing Jacksonville to cover the spread in this spot.
Pick: Jaguars +3.5 (-115)
Spread
My 49ers vs. Jaguars betting prediction is on Jacksonville to cover the spread at +3.5
Moneyline
Although I do like the Jaguars to cover the spread, I will not be betting them on the moneyline.
Over/Under
I'm also steering clear of the total in this matchup.
