Rams vs 49ers Preview

We're starting our Rams vs. 49ers SGP with Rams -3.5.

Simply put, this looks like a superteam. They already had an elite offense. Then they went ahead and added Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie — not to mention Aaron Donald — to the defense.

That gives the Rams the best defensive player in the NFL in Garrett, along with a rock-solid corner in McDuffie.

Meanwhile, the 49ers are an aging team, relying on veteran players like Christian McCaffrey, Mike Evans, and George Kittle. To that end, I'm riding with the Rams here.

We'll add Puka Nacua Under 91.5 Receiving Yards.

It's been a bit of a tumultuous offseason for Nacua as there were concerns that he could face a suspension due to his off-field issues. On top of that, he was dealing with a psoas injury throughout camp.

Then you have to consider that in two games against the Niners last year, Nacua had 64 and 85 yards. Add that together, and this looks like a slow start to the year for Puka.

The third leg is Blake Corum Under 45.5 Rushing Yards.

This one is key because it gives us a negative correlation odds boost. With Corum's Under, we get +2200 odds. If we took his Over, the odds would be at +1100.

This is a high bar for an RB2.

Yes, the Rams like to deploy a committee, but Kyren Williams still leads this backfield. The Rams can easily win by 4+ without having much contribution from Corum. Simply put, this is a fade on a supporting player with an inflated line.

Next up is Christian McCaffrey Under 59.5 Rushing Yards.

Despite his gaudy numbers, McCaffrey quietly showed a decline in burst last year, averaging only 3.9 yards per carry, which was the lowest since his rookie season.

In two games vs. the Rams last season, McCaffrey put up 30 and 57 rushing yards. Now that the Rams added Garrett up front, they're likely to be even tougher to run against.

We'll finish off the Rams vs. 49ers SGP with De'Zhaun Stribling Over 36.5 Receiving Yards.

The rookie wideout was the talk of Niners camp all offseason, generating a ton of buzz for his strong play in both practice and preseason.

Evans dealt with minor soft tissue injuries all camp, while Kittle is playing his first game since tearing his Achilles.

To that end, there's a good chance that the Niners get Stribling involved here. It's a relatively low bar at 36.5 receiving yards, making it worth a look.

Rams vs 49ers Same-Game Parlay

  • Rams -3.5 (-118)
  • Puka Nacua Under 91.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
  • Blake Corum Under 45.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
  • Christian McCaffrey Under 59.5 Rushing Yards (-113)
  • De'Zhaun Stribling Over 36.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Parlay Odds: +2200
