Seahawks vs Patriots Preview
The Super Bowl LX rematch kicks off the 2026 NFL season tonight, and there is no better way to celebrate than a same-game parlay. Seattle manhandled New England for most of the Super Bowl and rode MVP Kenneth Walker to a 29-13 victory.
Unfortunately, Walker is no longer with the Seahawks, and their uber-talented defense is missing multiple pieces of their secondary. Ty Okada is out, Riq Woolen is in Philadelphia, and Nick Emmanwori is trending toward an absence.
This leaves Seattle vulnerable to a Patriots offense that added size and talent to their WR room with the additions of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. New England also added talent to its offensive line, while getting 2025 top-five pick Will Campbell healthy.
The Patriots are preparing to play without electric RB Treveyon Henderson, but he was hardly a Super Bowl factor as the team leaned on Rhamondre Stevenson throughout the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks replaced Walker with 32nd-overall pick Jadarian Price.
Price was an electric rusher in college, but he only earned 295 touches (15 receptions) through three college seasons. It is difficult to imagine him immediately replacing Walker's production, especially with veteran RB Zach Charbonnet starting the season on the PUP List.
Beyond roster turnover and injuries, Seattle is navigating a change at offensive coordinator with Brian Fleury replacing Klint Kubiak, who left for the Raiders' head coach job. Fleury comes from the Shanahan system like Kubiak, but he may need an adjustment period to this new role.
New England is entering the game with the same coaches and system as last season and looking to build on a breakout year. Despite the off-field drama with head coach Mike Vrabel, the Patriots have not had any real offseason issues on the football field. The biggest potential problem was mitigated with Christian Gonzalez's record-breaking contract extension.
Expect New England to earn revenge tonight, even in Seattle's raucous stadium and as 3.5-point underdogs.
Drake Maye's rushing attempts line is set at 5, but he averaged 6 rushes per game in 2025. In the Patriots' 14 wins last season, he averaged 6.3 rushes per game, while averaging just 5 in losses.
With Henderson ruled out, Maye could take more rushing attempts to complement Stevenson on the ground. Also, if they win, his potential kneel-downs count as rush attempts.
On the opposing side, the Seahawks may not throw more than the 38 attempts they had in the last matchup, but Sam Darnold will not have the luxury of throwaways or good fortune if playing from behind.
Darnold did not turn the ball over once in that game. However, his 2.9% INT rate in 2025 was among the league's highest, while his 11 fumbles were tied for the most. He has improved since his days with the Jets, but is still a good bet for an occasional INT after throwing one in nine games last season.
Lastly, if Darnold is throwing, he is likely targeting reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
JSN averaged 105.5 receiving yards per game last season, but has his line set at a meager 82 yards. This has dropped from his 90.5-yard opening line, possibly due to star CB Christian Gonzalez's guaranteed availability and fear of a Super Bowl repeat.
Nevertheless, JSN is one of the five best receivers in football for a reason. He is a DB-proof talent who only ebbs and flows due to the game script.
His 27 yards in the Super Bowl were disappointing, but a mid-game ankle injury hampered him. He played just 69.4% of the offensive snaps and was visibly ailing on the field.
If the Seahawks struggle to run with Price against an improved Patriots front, expect a repeat of JSN's league-leading 35.7% target share to crack his 82-yard line, if not double it.
