Saturday NHL Picks & Prediction: 3 Edges on NHL Totals, Including Coyotes-Rangers & Red Wings-Predators

It’s a big day in sports, no doubt about it. Many of you will be watching the NFL playoffs while others might be enjoying a huge slate of college basketball games, or even tonight’s UFC pay-per-view. Whatever you do, don’t look past the loaded slate in the NHL on Saturday. There are 10 games on the docket for today and we have found edges on the three totals through our NHL PRO projections. Let’s get right to them. Jets vs. Bruins 3 p.m. ET The first game of the day is a matchup between two teams battling for a playoff spot in their respective conferences. The Jets are fifth in the Central Division and seven points out of a playoff spot with a 17-12-6 record. They visit the Bruins who set in fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 23-12-2 record. Our PRO projections have the total for this game at 6.4, which gives the over a 6.3% edge and B+ grade against the number. PRO Report Pick: Over 5.5 (-120) Coyotes vs. Rangers 7 p.m. ET Another intra-conference matchup, and this one is a little bit more lopsided. The Rangers are having an excellent season. They sit in a tie for first place in the Metropolitan Division — having played four more games than the Hurricanes — with a 26-11-4 record. The Coyotes have been struggling. They are in last place in the Central Division with a 10-25-4 record, but have won two of their last three against the lowly Canadiens and Devils. But we’re not here to pick a side. The ‘Yotes have given up 145 goals this season, which is tied with the Kraken for most in the NHL. Our projections make this total 5.77, giving over 5.5 a 4.3% edge since you can get the over at +115. PRO Report Pick: Over 5.5 (+115) Red Wings vs. Predators 8:30 p.m. ET This should be an fun matchup. The Predators are in third place in the Central Division and are enjoying a nice bounce-back season. They get a visit from the Detroit Red Wings, who have also shown some flashes of brilliance with a young core. They sit in fifth place in the Atlantic Division and are six points out of a playoff spot. This is our biggest edge of the day on NHL totals. Our PRO projections have the total at 6.19.
