With the 2025 Major League Soccer season in full swing, The Action Network has conducted an analysis of more than 500,000 comments on the subreddits of all 30 MLS fandoms to find out which fans are the most foul-mouthed, which fans are the most negative and on the other hand, which fandoms are the most positive and polite.
The Most Foul-Mouthed MLS Fandoms
At first, a sample of comments from the subreddits of the MLS fandoms was collected and subsequently, it was analyzed how much % of their comments included swear words.
According to an analysis of 500,000+ comments, Orlando City SC turned out to be the most foul-mouthed MLS fandom since 5.7% of their comments included swear words.
The fans of LA Galaxy were found to be the second most foul-mouthed fandom — 5.18% of their comments included swear words — followed by Sporting Kansas City in third place with 4.94% of their comments including swear words.
Atlanta United FC is in 4th place since 4.73% of their comments contained swear words and Toronto FC closes out the top 5 with 4.68% of their comments including swear words.
On the other end of the spectrum, New York Red Bulls, Chicago Fire FC or Houston Dynamo FC are some of the most polite fandoms. New York Red Bulls’ comments included only 2.43% swear words, Chicago Fire FC’s comments included only 2.66% swear words while 3.06% of Houston Dynamo FC’s comments contained swear words.

The Most Negative MLS Fandoms
Additionally, the emotional tone of each comment was assessed and categorized as either negative, positive or neutral. According to the results of the analysis of 500,000+ comments, Atlanta United FC turned out to be the most “negative” fandom, since 27.02% of their comments had a negative sentiment.
In second and third place as the most negative are Orlando CitySC and Inter Miami FC, respectively. 26.92% of Orlando City SC’s comments were categorized as negative while Inter Miami FC had 25.94% of negative comments.

The Most Positive MLS Fandoms
On the other hand, Real Salt Lake were determined to be the most positive MLS fandom – 54.12% of their comments were categorized as positive.
The second most positive fandom turned out to be Vancouver Whitecaps FC (52.63% positive comments) followed by New York Red Bulls (52.3% positive comments).

Methodology
- In total, 562,251 comments from 30 subreddits of the 2025 MLS fandoms were analyzed, looking for comments that contained swear words.
- In total, 22,516 comments containing swear words were found.
- Each fandom was assigned a percentage value based on the percentage of the comments on their subreddit that contained swear words.
- Additionally, the emotional tone of each comment was assessed and categorized as either negative, positive or neutral — comments with a compound score below -0.05 were categorized as negative.
- Minimum number of comments collected per fandom: 3,000.
- The final analysis was carried out in June 2025.
