Amanda Anisimova and Renata Zarazua clash in the second round of Wimbledon on Wednesday, July 2. The match will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+.

I’m not sure there is much more of a mismatch that will take place in the second round in either draw than Amanda Anisimova vs Renata Zarazua. Yes, that includes some of the elite stars at the top of the game playing best-of-five set tennis in the men’s draw.

Anisimova should have her sights set on the second week, and I’m not sure the underpowered game of Zarazua can do much to stop the American.

Let's get into my Wimbledon second round preview and Anisimova vs Zarazua prediction for Wednesday.

Jon Reid's Anisimova vs Zarazua Preview

Amanda Anisimova Betting Preview

I think this one is fairly simple. Anisimova has the ability to dictate play at a much greater clip than her opponent. She has a gargantuan surface edge in this one, and her serve is vastly superior.

Anisimova comes in playing strong tennis on the grass and is more than capable on return. That last point is key when looking to back bets that imply a lopsided outcome.

One has to be able to put up some lopsided set scores in order to keep the number of games under the total or to cover larger spreads.

With a game fit for the surface and an opponent who hates it, I see no reason Anisimova can’t put up another dominant performance this round.

Renata Zarazua Betting Preview

There are often times in this sport that we know as a tennis community some players have shown up to a tournament because the prize money is lucrative and it would be stupid to pass up on the chance.

Many players who hate clay in the top 100 do it at the French Open. Many clay specialists do it at hard court majors.

That’s precisely the case with Zarazua, who is only here to collect main draw prize money in the richest tournament the sport has to offer.

So how did she reach the second round you ask? Well, she lucked out and managed to draw a player that is retiring this season and has been unable to find many wins this year.

Weak serve, poor timing and a dislike for low-bouncing courts are all present in Zarazua’s game. These are far from conditions conducive to her success.

Anisimova vs Zarazua Predictions, Betting Analysis

The only remaining question is where is the value?

The market is well aware of Anisimova’s strong form and quick-court prowess. Bettors also know Zarazua is a clay court specialist. That’s why the spread is six games and the total is less than 20.

I don’t think it’s gone far enough. We don’t want to read too much into a 6-0, 6-0 Anisimova win. That would be letting recency bias cloud our judgment and overvaluing an outlier type score.

We can, however, look at the profile of the player she beat in the first round and see someone very similar to Zarazua in Yulia Putintseva. As we look further back this grass season, we can see similar results all over against opposition she can push around with her pace.

Considering Zarazua isn’t as strong as any of those opponents, I find it difficult to believe she’s the one that’s going to put up resistance.

Finally, I think this match should be priced up similarly to some of the more lopsided matches we saw in the opening round. Heck, I’d make the case this is even more one-sided than some of the tilts that saw 6.5 game spreads and totals even lower.

This appears to be a mistake, and it’s one I’m looking to take advantage of.

Pick: Under 19
