Coco Gauff vs Madison Keys Preview, French Open Prediction

Gauff Betting Preview

On this side of the bracket, all eyes have been on Coco Gauff from the start.

The 21-year-old arrived in Paris as the World No. 2, and with that position and seed in the draw, she managed to avoid Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek until Saturday.

In the French Open, Gauff has made it to the final (2022) and semifinals (2024), and this is her third time in the quarterfinals, but the chance to win the title has never been better since her two biggest obstacles — Sabalenka and Swiatek — will meet on Thursday.

Gauff has confirmed her status with an impressive showing in every round.

She has won all her matches in straight sets, and the only close scores were a tiebreak against Marie Bouzkova to end her third-round match and a 7-5 second set against Ekaterina Alexandrova on Monday.

Gauff has well-rounded skills, an excellent return game, and clinical finishing in her approaches to the net. She has been very effective with her first — and even second serve — without needing aces.

Keys Betting Preview

Even though the Australian and the French Open are quite different (surface, weather, crowd, moment in the season), Madison Keys has made it clear she means business here as well after conquering Melbourne in January.

The 30-year-old did not offer great results in the clay tournaments leading up to Roland Garros, but she has been relentless here, encountering barely any trouble in her path thus far.

After two-set wins in the first two rounds, it was another American, Sofia Kenin, who challenged Keys. It is probably now Gauff's turn to keep it complicated.

Keys lost the first set to Kenin, mainly due to two untimely unforced errors in the seventh game that cost her a break. After that, Keys won 6-3 and 7-5 with an accurate first serve and a major advantage in points won on short rallies (up to four shots).

On Monday, against another American, Hailey Baptiste, Keys dominated with seven aces and 76% of points won with her first serve to advance 6-3 and 7-5.

Gauff vs Keys Predictions, Betting Analysis

Gauff is the favorite and with every reason to be. However, their head-to-head shows how evenly matched they can be at times, with Keys coming on top 3-2 so far.

Gauff won two times over hard courts, but Keys prevailed on grass, clay, and hard court in her three victories. The most important, of course, is the one she won on clay in Madrid, with a 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 score.

If Keys' serve is working, she will have a chance to repeat that. However, Gauff has a great return game and knows how to work longer rallies, which could be a problem for Keys.

Long before this tournament, Gauff claimed her favorite city was Paris. A victory could make that love everlasting, but she must weather the storm against Keys to keep that dream alive.

Then again, not many thought Keys would beat Sabalenka in Melbourne, so this one should keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

Pick: Gauff -3.5 (-105, DraftKings)
