French Open Predictions — Day 7 (Third Round)

Kasatkina vs Badosa Odds

Daria Kasatkina Odds+160
Paula Badosa Odds-215
Over/Under21.5 (-110o / -120u)

Daria Kasatkina has been around the tour long enough to make a name for herself, winning eight singles titles, although she has failed to make a big splash at Grand Slams, with only a Roland Garros semifinal in 2022 and two quarterfinals in 2018 (RG and Wimbledon) on her resume.

The 28-year-old has only won two titles since 2022 and did not have a great clay season despite this being her preferred surface. Nevertheless, she has done great in Paris this week, beating Katerina Siniakova (6-1, 3-6, 6-2) and Leolia Jeanjean (6-4, 6-2) in the first two rounds.

Of course, she will now meet her first great rival, Paula Badosa, who has already eliminated Naomi Osaka and Elena-Gabriela Ruse from contention.

The Spaniard has gone three sets both times, so she comes in with a bit more mileage on her legs but also the relief of not having her back issues flare up.

Badosa has played with precision, making fewer unforced errors than her opponents and going to the net when the game calls for a more aggressive approach. She is 17th in the clay EloRatings rankings, while Kasatkina is 27th.

Badosa is the favorite here and should push from the start with a more effective service game than her counterpart Kasatkina, who is more of a baseliner with a counter-game approach.

Their head-to-head is tied 3-3, with only two games on clay, one triumph each. Kasatkina beat her in Rome in 2022, and Badosa hit back one year later in Stuttgart.

The Spaniard should take this and get the upper hand again in this H2H.

Keys vs Kenin Odds

Madison Keys Odds-300
Sofia Kenin Odds+215
Over/Under21.5 (-110o / -125u)

Madison Keys has won all four sets in her matches played so far this week without conceding more than three games in any.

The 2025 Australian Open winner hasn't even needed aces — just two so far — or a great first-serve percentage to come out on top, relying instead on accuracy and a solid net game.

She defeated Daria Saville (6-2, 6-1) and Katie Boulter (6-1, 6-3), but this round might be a step up in competition against another American in Sofia Kenin.

Keys is a much better hard-court player, and when facing tougher opposition on clay, her chances drop significantly, although Kenin might not be that kind of threat.

The draw was kind to Keys, and she could make her best run yet in this tournament after reaching the semifinals in 2018 and the quarterfinals in 2019. If everything goes according to plan, she will face another American, Coco Gauff, in the quarterfinals.

Kenin, of course, would like to change that.

It's true her best moment has passed: that was in 2020 when she won the Australian Open and played in the Roland Garros final against Iga Swiatek. However, she also made it to the third round in Paris last year and was a finalist at Charleston two months ago.

This week, Kenin defeated Varvara Gracheva (6-3, 6-1), and another Australian Open winner (2012, 2013), Victoria Azarenka, in straight sets: 7-6(5), 6-4. The American's versatility and counter-attacks could serve her well in this match against Keys.

The head-to-head favors Keys 3-1, although every one of those wins was on hard court, and the sole Kenin victory was on clay in Rome in 2019.

Right now, Keys is the better player by far, and if she improves her serve efficiency, this should be just another step forward.
