Four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek takes on former US Open champion Emma Raducanu on Wednesday, May 28. The match will tentatively start at 10:15 a.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV and MAX.

This match should be a better test for Swiatek's current form. She will face a rival with much to prove since Raducanu has lost all four previous matchups and failed to live up to the expectations after winning the US Open in 2021, which is her only singles title to date.

Carlos Avilan's Swiatek vs Raducanu Preview, Prediction

Iga Swiatek Betting Preview

Everyone is hoping to see the real Iga Swiatek again. Her struggles this year have been mind-boggling, especially on clay, where she has dominated for the past five years.

Her victory over Rebecca Sramkova in the first round improved her record to 36-2 at Roland Garros, so she is the queen of clay until proven otherwise.

In this debut, the Pole proceeded cautiously, by her own aggressive standards. Swiatek only attempted four approaches, four volleys, and two drop shots, barely getting an edge in winners (25 to Sramkova's 23) and unforced errors (17 to 22).

Swiatek should grow confident with each match since this is also a bit of a tendency of hers. Last year, she "struggled" against Naomi Osaka in the second round, dropping her only set in the entire tournament and beating everyone else with ease afterward en route to the title.

This second-round match will present a greater threat if only because Raducanu will be more aggressive with her powerful forehand.

Nothing Swiatek hasn't seen before, but that still depends on whether we are talking about the same Iga we are used to seeing in Paris.

Emma Raducanu Betting Preview

Each year, the question remains, and the doubt grows bigger: Was that US Open title a complete fluke or the root of a premature downfall?

Even though the US Open is the Grand Slam tournament most likely to offer a surprise (end of year, a lot of wear and tear by then), that 2021 final match between Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez was and still is an oddity.

Raducanu has failed to shine at a Grand Slam tournament ever since, never making the quarterfinals again. The British player has had a fair share of injuries since 2022, undergoing wrist and ankle surgeries in 2023.

Ranked 41st on the WTA Tour, she only won one match in Madrid and Strasbourg but managed to win three in Rome, her best performance on clay this season.

Raducanu battled against Xinyu Wang in her first-round victory in Paris: 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. She took advantage of her opponent's mistakes (54 unforced errors vs. 29 for Raducanu) and won 80% of points when going to the net, an approach she will probably have to repeat and increase against an amazing baseliner like Swiatek.

Swiatek vs Raducanu Predictions, Betting Analysis

The head-to-head is clear: four victories for Swiatek, one in every year since 2022, and all of them in two sets. Two of them on hard courts, with the latest being a resounding 6-1, 6-0 at the Australian Open this year, a whooping that prompted reporters to ask the Pole if she had animosity toward Raducanu.

On clay, the scores have been closer. Swiatek won twice in Stuttgart: 6-4, 6-4 in 2022 and 7-6(2), 6-3 in 2024, so there is a silver lining and possible hope for Raducanu going through that history.

Nevertheless, the outcome should remain the same: Swiatek must prove whether this is still part of her 2025 struggles or just a warm-up for her glorious return to form.

Pick: Swiatek ML | Over 18.5 (+110, DraftKings)
