Musetti vs Galan Predictions, Betting Analysis
Only Carlos Alcaraz is in better current form on clay than Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian is 13-3 on the surface since the start of the clay season in April, with two of those losses coming to the aforementioned Alcaraz.
He reached the final in Monte-Carlo and the semis in Madrid and Rome, posting six top-10 victories in the process.
Musetti continued that run with an easy straight-set win over Yannick Hanfmann, 7-5, 6-2, 6-0, in the first round of the French Open.
On the flip side, Galan just played a five-set match against 120th-ranked Valentin Royer, nearly blowing a two-set lead in the process. He's also considered a lucky loser in this draw after dropping a third-round qualifying match to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in straight sets.
Clay is one of Galan's best surfaces, but that won't mean much when faced with the opportunity to face Musetti, especially with potentially limited fitness.
Finally, Musetti has played Galan twice in his career, beating the Colombian in straight sets both times (2024 French Open, 2022 Naples).
Musetti didn't clear this current line in last year's match vs. Galan at Roland Garros (8 instead of 8.5), but he's playing much better tennis now, as shown by his career-high ranking of seven.
Pick: Musetti -8.5
