Djokovic vs Sinner Preview, Prediction
by Tudor Cosma
Novak Djokovic Betting Preview
Djokovic is a 38-year-old Serbian, currently ranked world No. 4. It's truly impressive that he's still reaching Grand Slam semifinals as a veteran.
While he may not seem "old" compared to the likes of Stan Wawrinka, we must remember that Djokovic is 20 years older than some of the players he faces on tour.
His journey to this semifinal has been nothing short of blessed. However, reaching the semifinals of all four Grand Slams last year proves his longevity is no fluke.
Despite his age, he remains in the top four and his physical condition is arguably better than most players under 30. While he's hinted at retiring after the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, his current level suggests he isn't going anywhere soon.
Djokovic is the most prolific player in history, holding the record for the most Grand Slam titles (24), most Masters trophies (40) and most weeks at world No. 1 (428). His mental strength is legendary — a player who knows how to win even when trailing two sets to love.
His rhythm in this tournament hasn't been overwhelming, but he's been remarkably efficient. After a tough third round against Botic van de Zandschulp, luck swung his way.
His fourth-round opponent — Jakub Mensik — withdrew before the match, and in the quarterfinals, Lorenzo Musetti was forced to retire due to an upper leg injury while leading 6-4, 6-3, 1-3.
Consequently, Djokovic arrives at this semifinal physically fresh, having played only two completed sets in the last five days.
Jannik Sinner Betting Preview
Sinner is a 24-year-old Italian, currently ranked world No. 2. He's an exceptional athlete who stands on equal footing with the greatest champions in history. While his tally of four Grand Slam titles is "low" compared to his dominance, it's simply because he's shared the spoils of the last two years equally with Carlos Alcaraz.
Sinner has reached the final in each of the last five Grand Slams he's entered. He only lost the No. 1 ranking to Alcaraz by a narrow margin, largely due to a three-month negligence suspension in the spring of 2025.
Since his return, he's been nearly flawless, earning the nicknames "The Machine" and "The Robot" for his error-free tennis.
On hard courts, Sinner is arguably the best in the world. He enters this match on a 19-match winning streak at the Australian Open, seeking a historic "three-peat" in Melbourne.
His serve has reached terrifying new levels, and he's conceded breaks in only one match in this tournament.
Like Djokovic in his prime, Sinner possesses a calm, stoic personality and a clinical baseline game.
His only scare in this tourney came against Eliot Spizzirri in the third round, where he nearly retired due to heat-induced cramps before being saved by a long break to close the roof.
Since then, he's been untouchable, dismantling Luciano Darderi and Ben Shelton in straight sets.
Djokovic vs Sinner Predictions, Betting Analysis
Djokovic reached this stage with a massive stroke of luck after Musetti's retirement, but he remains a 10-time champion here.
While he was clearly outplayed in the first two sets in the quarters, he'll enter this match extremely well-rested.
Djokovic knows how to manage these high-pressure occasions better than anyone in history and is rarely a "sure victim."
Sinner has been dominant, but even in his straight-sets wins over Darderi and Shelton, the game margins were nine and seven games, respectively.
I expect a much tighter contest in the semis.
Pick: Novak Djokovic +7.5 Game Handicap
