Sky vs. Fever Preview
It’s no longer Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese, but there’s still plenty of intrigue surrounding the first meeting of the season between the Fever and Sky in Indiana.
Chicago stunned the WNBA by winning three of its first four games, but sustaining that early momentum quickly became difficult. The Sky have now dropped seven of their last eight contests, most recently falling 82-75 at home Tuesday to Reese’s new team, Atlanta.
Oddly enough, Chicago has performed better away from home, posting a respectable 3-3 road record despite struggling badly at home.
With Rickea Jackson done for the season with a torn ACL, it’s a very balanced offensive attack for the Sky.
Skylar Diggins (14.6 PPG, 4.5 APG) leads the way, aided by Kamilla Cardoso (12.3 PPG, 9 RPG, 1.9 BPG), Gabriela Jaquez (10.4 PPG) and Natasha Cloud (10.3 PPG).
Diggins has been vocal about the team’s lack of heart and effort during the tailspin, setting up an opportunity for her squad to respond.
As for the Fever, they’ve won two of three, edging the Mystics 78-76 in Washington on Monday to move back over .500 for the year.
After her team squandered a 17-point lead, MVP candidate Clark drilled a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to lift Indiana to the win. She finished with 19 points, capped by perhaps the biggest shot of her three-year career.
Indiana is paced offensively by the league’s fourth-leading scorer, Kelsey Mitchell (20.5 PPG), Clark (18.7 PPG, 7.9 APG) and Aliyah Boston (15.7 PPG, 7.8 RPG).
Clark is expected to play through a lingering back issue, while reliable role player Sophie Cunningham is questionable with an elbow injury.

Sky vs. Fever Prediction
Despite 82% of bets backing Chicago as a 10-point underdog, the line has climbed from 9.5 at most sportsbooks.
That movement creates value on the Sky.
Action PRO projects Indiana closer to an 8.5-point favorite, giving Chicago a meaningful edge against the spread in a matchup that profiles as more competitive than the number suggests.
While the Fever have some great top-end talent, they have won only three games by double digits this season. The Sky, meanwhile, have lost by more than 10 points just three times.
Chicago’s ability to stay competitive on the road, combined with Indiana’s tendency to play tight games, makes this spread feel inflated.
This may not be the prettiest matchup on the board, but the number is simply too large to ignore.
Best Bet: Sky +10 (-110, bet365)
