Lynx vs. Fever Preview
While the dominance of the Minnesota Lynx has been well documented this season, the team everyone was excited about, the Indiana Fever, has had to reinvent itself to maintain success.
Injuries have decimated the Fever backcourt as the absence of Cailin Clark has been crucial, but now the loss of Sophie Cunningham looms even larger. This will be their first game without either, and they will need to continue their strong defensive efforts if they want to hang with the Lynx.
Indiana has been excellent against opposing guards. They rank third in assists allowed and fourth in rebounds allowed to them this season.
This matchup is going to significantly impact Lynx guard Courtney Williams, who has been inconsistent facilitating as of late.
Over her last five games, Williams has exceeded five assists just twice as the absence of leading scorer Napheesa Collier has forced Williams to step into a more scoring role.
With Collier having not played since August 2nd and being listed as a game-time decision tonight, it's likely we'll see Williams maintain her scoring role, which limits her ability to facilitate.
