To kick off Sunday's MLB slate, the AL Central's Cleveland Guardians host the AL West's Los Angeles Angels.

These clubs split the first two games of this series as each squad looks to claim the rubber match. Will Cleveland defend its home diamond, or can Los Angeles secure the series?

Here's a look at the odds, as well as my Angels vs. Guardians betting pick.

Los Angeles Angels

Left-hander Patrick Sandoval is slated to take the mound for the Angels. He's started the campaign in relatively solid form and is 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP through seven starts.

However, his underlying metrics suggest regression is looming. Sandoval ranks in the 42nd percentile or lower in xERA/xwOBA, xBA and xSLG.

If the expected regression hits in this contest, it could be a short outing for the left-hander. But, even if the regression doesn't register, he should still be a good fade candidate in the strikeout market.

Sandoval ranks in the 15th percentile in K% this season.

Cleveland Guardians

The bad news for the Cleveland Guardians is that the start of the season hasn't gone as planned. The Guardians are just 18-21 through the first 39 games. The good news is that they play in the AL Central, so they are just a couple games out of first place.

Cleveland's issues reside at the dish. The Guardians rank in the bottom 10 of the league in runs scored per game, BA, SLG and OPS. However, the one thing this lineup does extremely well is avoid strikeouts, something likely to continue against Sandoval.

The Guardians rank fifth in the league in K% when facing left-handed pitching. Looking at Sunday's projected lineup, the punch out is likely going to be difficult to come by as six of the nine hitters possess a K% south of 20% this year.

Angels vs. Guardians Betting Pick

Sandoval has recorded four or fewer strikeouts in each of his past two starts, something likely to continue in this matchup. Through 39 career plate appearances against the left-hander, this Guardians roster possesses a mere 12.8 K%.

Through four career starts against Cleveland, Sandoval has surpassed 4.5 strikeouts just once.
