Diamondbacks vs Giants MLB Betting Preview
I’m pretty bullish on this Diamondbacks team overall, and honestly, I’m starting to regret talking myself into the Giants preseason futures position over Arizona in the NL West. The more I watch this team, the more I think they have one of the best combinations in baseball in terms of pitching process and offensive approach.
From an offensive standpoint, I love the at-bats they’re taking right now. This lineup is patient, disciplined and consistently forcing pitchers into difficult counts. Add in the fact that Arizona clearly has the power edge in this matchup, and I think they’re well-positioned in a game environment that could play more hitter-friendly than Oracle Park typically does.
The weather matters here. Temperatures are only expected to be in the 60s, but winds are projected to blow out around 20 mph, which is notable for this park. Oracle usually sees winds closer to the 8-to-10 mph range, so there’s definitely potential for a couple of fly balls to carry out that normally wouldn’t. That favors the more dangerous offense, and I think that’s clearly Arizona.
I do give a slight edge in the starting pitching matchup to Tyler Mahle, but once you factor in the bullpen difference, offensive quality and overall offensive process, I still come out on the Diamondbacks side.
Long term, I also think this roster gets stronger. Corbin Burnes could return soon, and getting arms like Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk back later in the season would only raise the ceiling further.
