Bailey Ober, the gentle giant, is not getting a glow-up, nor adding 10 mph to his fastball velocity. He's still throwing in the upper to mid 80s, and he is due to get crushed at some point.
Hopefully that point is tonight, as I make this total closer to 10 runs.
Both of today's starting pitchers project quantifiably below average for me.
I have Ober ranked at 178 among SPs, and I have Brandon Young at 123.
I'm a little bit higher on Young, but in his last couple of starts, the Orioles starter has pitched closer to expectations, giving up seven runs and three homers, and he hasn't gotten strikeouts as efficiently.
Plus, this Twins lineup has overperformed relative to expectations for the entire year.
Orioles vs Twins Pick, Betting Analysis
I don't rate either of these teams as strong defensively and don't like either bullpen in particular.
The Orioles should have a couple of guys out tonight, but Grant Wolfram is the key player among the two. On the Twins, it looks like Kody Funderburk might be out, and he's pitched really well of late. So the bullpens are a little bit short.
I don't like either starter. The weather seems positive for offense, and both lineups project average or better.
Again, I make this total about 10, and I like the over 9.5 to -110.
