Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview
The Guardians will need another strong performance from their pitching staff on Tuesday night, especially since their offensive struggles have persisted throughout the 2025 season.
Tanner Bibee gets the ball tonight, who has been inconsistent throughout the 2025 season. He enters tonight with a 4.54 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. His xERA is 3.68, which suggests he’s been the subject of misfortune.
Most of Bibee’s metrics rank above the 50th percentile, including average exit velo and hard-hit rate. He’s kept his walk rate down for most of the season, and his strikeout numbers aren’t too terrible either.
Bibee has always been an overrated pitcher, but is due for positive regression moving forward. His high ground-ball rate and low opposing hard-hit rate will help tonight against a decent Diamondbacks offense.
He’s boded well against the Snakes in the past, despite only seeing them for 13 plate appearances. Many public bettors may quickly fade Bibee tonight, but that’s a huge mistake.
I question if the Guardians' offense can score tonight for Bibee, although Jose Ramirez has done well against Rodriguez in the past. The Guardians are batting .226 against lefties and have been struggling in August.
I have no faith in this Cleveland offense tonight, but Bibee is lined up to turn in a strong start.
Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview
Like Bibee, Eduardo Rodriguez has been on the wrong side of misfortune. Rodriguez enters tonight with an ugly 5.40 ERA and 1.64 WHIP, but his metrics suggest he shouldn’t have numbers that poor.
He has an xERA of 4.38 and has excellent hard-hit and exit-velo rates against opposing hitters. He has certainly compiled more strikeouts than he should have, but his ability to limit hard contact will help him tonight against a struggling Cleveland offense.
Rodriguez is a tough pitcher to figure out, but I like the matchup for him tonight. Once again, this is a classic case where bettors will look at the outside of a vehicle but don’t take the time to look under the hood.
This is not to say that Rodriguez will turn in a dominant performance tonight, but due to the matchup, I think he will cruise in the early going. He should give the Snakes’ bats a chance to score some runs against Bibee.
The issue is that this is a tougher matchup for the Arizona bats than many may think. They’ve been an excellent offensive team at home and hit the ball well in August, but Bibee is due for better results moving forward.
This could be a game where both offenses struggle out of the gate, but I would give the edge to Arizona due to its better offensive makeup.
Guardians vs Diamondbacks Prediction, Pick
I like the Diamondbacks to win this game tonight.
I am a bit skeptical of their matchup against Bibee, but I think their offense will do enough to propel them to victory at the end of the night.
Also, I trust Rodriguez to pitch well in the early portion of the game, which will give their offense a chance to pull this game out.
Overall, I trust the Arizona offense much more than Cleveland’s, so they’ll be able to do enough to pull this one out at home after a rough offensive showing on Monday night.
