Derek Carty’s Astros vs Braves Preview, Prediction, Betting Analysis
I'm going with the over in tonight's game. The Braves will send Hurston Waldrep to the mound, and even though we don't have an official Astros announcement, their choices are not particularly good.
I looked at the THE BAT X projection, and I have to play this one because this game is projected for 11 runs, and the line was at 8.5. With a gap that big, I have to take it. You can get it at even money at a number of books right now.
So I'm taking the over on this. Part of it has to do with the weather. It's getting cooler just about everywhere. We're coming towards the end of the season, but it's over 80 degrees in Atlanta today. So sneaky good hitting weather here.
And even though Waldrep is exciting, I don't think he's as good as some of these other young guys that we've seen, like Nolan McLean, Jonah Tong, Jacob Misiorowski or Chase Burns. His Stuff+ is only okay; it's above average, not great like some of these other guys. His control is mediocre.
The projection for the over is also relative to where the market is setting it. I just have to trust it.
