Angels vs Orioles Preview
Baltimore has been one of the biggest disappointments in baseball this season after being one of the best teams for the past two years, which led to the firing of manager Brandon Hyde.
The Orioles' offensive downfall in the early months was particularly mind-boggling, with Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson struggling to find their form. Their production has improved lately, and now the team sits at 98 wRC+, ranking 17th in the majors.
However, the Orioles still have one glaring issue: they can't seem to hit left-handed pitchers. They fall all the way to the 29th spot against southpaws with a woeful 62 wRC+, only a bit better than the disastrous Colorado Rockies.
This brings us to their matchup against Tyler Anderson, a lefty who has succeeded in facing Baltimore, with only Henderson hitting above .250 against him.
With the Angels, the offensive output issue is much worse. They are 24th in Major League Baseball with 90 wRC+ for the season, but in June, the team is down to 85.
Yesterday, the Angels suffered a shutout in the first game of this series, and today they will face Tomoyuki Sugano, who pitched brilliantly in his only previous start against them.
Sugano worked 7 1/3 innings on May 9 versus Los Angeles, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out five batters, a number he has only reached in two other outings in 2025.
Although yesterday's total of only two runs might not be repeated, the tendency of the under should remain, and this aligns with the recommendation from our Bet Labs system for today's game.
Angels vs Orioles Prediction, Betting Analysis
This system targets MLB regular season games where both teams are coming off low-scoring performances (0 to 2 runs scored in their previous game) within the same series.
These matchups tend to reflect strong pitching or cold offenses, and the market may not adjust the total downward enough in time.
This strategy filters for more recent seasons to reflect current scoring environments and pitcher usage trends. Betting the under in these situations has shown consistent short-term profitability.
