Despite their 22-20 overall record this season, the Boston Red Sox are scuffling right now.

The Red Sox find themselves in last place in the highly competitive American League East. Boston has now lost six of their last seven games including four straight games at home.

After losing on Sunday Night Baseball to the Cardinals 9-1, they followed that up with a 10-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners in the first game of the series Monday night.

Can the Red Sox get back on the winning track Tuesday or will they make it five home losses in a row?

The Parlay (+407):

  • Luis Castillo Over 5.5 Strikeouts
  • Jared Kelenic 2+ Total Bases
  • Mariners Moneyline

Same-Game Parlay – Mariners vs. Red Sox

Luis Castillo Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Mariners ace Luis Castillo is one of the premiere strikeout pitchers in all of baseball. Castillo has a 28% strikeout percentage on the season and has gone over this number in three of his last five starts.

Boston's lineup isn't super strikeout heavy. The combined strikeout percentage of the Red Sox projected lineup against right-handed pitching this season is merely 18%. Still, there are some hitters that strike out quite a bit in the bottom half of this lineup. Jaren Duran, Triston Casas, Pablo Reyes, Emmanuel Valdez, and Reese McGuire all have at least a 20% strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching.

That should be enough for Castillo to go over the number here.

Jared Kelenic 2+ Total Bases

Boston starter Nick Pivetta has a 5.19 xFIP this season. His ERA is even worse at 6.23. He allowed seven earned runs in his last start on the road against the Atlanta Braves, has just one quality start in four tries at home this season and has allowed a .317 ISO to left-handed batters this year.

Kelenic is enjoying a breakout season and has a .257 ISO against right-handed pitching this year. Kelenic can get us two total bases here with a double or two singles for the second leg of this Same Game Parlay.

Mariners Moneyline

The Red Sox need to get back in the win column, but I'm just not seeing it happening here. Seattle has the clear starting pitching advantage with Castillo going up against Pivetta.

The Mariners' lineup just put up double-digit runs on the Red Sox last night. Boston has the 11th-worst bullpen ERA in all of baseball at 4.11 and Seattle has the best bullpen ERA in the league at 2.76.

The Red Sox will win another game eventually, but it's a tough matchup for them to break out of this cold streak they're on tonight against the Mariners.
