I’m taking Under 0.5 Hits for Miami’s young outfielder, Heriberto Hernandez, at +190 odds.
He’s off to a white-hot start, batting .417 across his first 24 at-bats this season. But he’s running too hot, and the books are shading the lines toward his Overs, creating value on the other side.
I think there’s a good amount of pinch-hit risk for Hernandez on Friday. We haven’t seen a big sample size, but the last time he started against a left-handed pitcher, he was yanked and missed two at-bats against the bullpen. I could see the same thing happening after he faces Mitchell Parker.
Ultimately, when you combine these odds with the public perception that he’s not as talented as his production, the Under looks like good value to me.
