Brewers vs Angels MLB Betting Preview
The case for the under isn't about Jacob Misiorowski losing his stuff; it's about Milwaukee's deliberate handling of his workload down the stretch. He's already thrown 120 innings this season, closing in fast on the 141.1 he totaled across the majors, minors and playoffs combined in 2025, and the Brewers have been explicit about managing that number with October in mind.
He was scratched from a start and skipped the All-Star Game with arm fatigue earlier this summer, and in his first outing back from that layoff, manager Pat Murphy pulled him after just four innings despite him sitting at 104 mph and missing bats.
That's the pattern to watch: shorter outings and an early hook, even when he's dealing.
His per-inning strikeout rate remains otherworldly at 13.88 K/9 this season, though FanGraphs DC pegs his projected rate at 12.17 K/9 for the remainder of the season, suggesting some of this year's gaudy number is a bit unsustainable. Run that more sustainable rate out over a Brewers-managed outing of five or six innings, and the math lands right around 7-9 strikeouts per start, under the line even on a night where he's sharp.
The swing factor is length. On innings counts alone, he's topped 9.5 strikeouts primarily in his longer starts this season. However, a deliberately capped pitch count tonight, following the recent four-inning limitation coming out of his last layoff, works against him reaching double digits regardless of how nasty the stuff looks.
Pick: Jacob Misiorowski Under 9.5 Strikeouts (-121, DraftKings)
