This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Athletics host the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. First pitch from Sutter Health Park is scheduled for 10:05 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast on MLB.TV.

The Twins defeated the A's on Monday and have a chance to wrap up a series victory on Tuesday with Pablo Lopez on the mound. The A's have struggled mightily as of late, and they will utilize their relievers — starting with opener Grant Holman — to get through Tuesday's game.

Twins Betting Preview: Back Lopez and his Elite Stuff

The Twins are 32-27 on the season and are still seven games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central despite winning 18 games in May.

Tonight, they have another opportunity to continue improving and leave behind that horrific month of April.

Pablo Lopez gets the ball tonight. He has carved up these A's hitters in the past, only batting .132 against him over 38 plate appearances.

Lopez has an impressive 2.75 ERA and an xERA of 3.10, which is a good sign that his results thus far are not skewed.

His metrics are spectacular, and he is generating opposing hitters to miss a lot more often than most starting pitchers. He ranks above the 90th percentile in strikeout, whiff, and hard-hit rate.

Considering the A's have lost 14 of their last 16 games, he is getting them at the right time. I still think the A's offense is a threat to explode any given night, but Lopez's elite stuff shrinks that possibility.

The Twins will see the A's bullpen tonight to begin the game, so it's tough to project how the offense will perform. They scored 10 runs last night but can be incredibly streaky offensively.

We may see a letdown from their offense, but it might not take many runs to give Lopez enough of a cushion to cruise to a victory.

Athletics Betting Preview: Bad Matchup, Bad Moment

The Athletics are struggling, and their pitching has let them down significantly. Remarkably, the Colorado Rockies have 10 wins on the season, and the A's have a higher team ERA than them (5.78).

That is exceptionally high and will not translate into winning baseball, no matter how good your offense is. They rank 15th in runs scored per game, so if their team ERA were one run lower, they would be sitting at .500 or better.

Regardless, it's a horrible matchup for them tonight against Lopez, and they haven't shown anything in the past that suggests they will be able to break through against him.

They are batting .278 against right-handers over the last five games but sit at .251 for the season.

I love the upper portion of this lineup, but I have far too much confidence in Lopez tossing a gem tonight that the A's are not warranted of a wager at their current price.

Twins vs Athletics Prediction, Betting Analysis

I am targeting the A's team total under for the first five innings in tonight's game. I do not want to mess around with any bullpen variance, as I want to zone in on the A's bats against Lopez.

Lopez is an elite starting pitcher, and he has shown no signs thus far of a downward trajectory. The A's have struggled mightily against him in the past, and I smell a lot of trouble on the surface for tonight as well.

Lopez's ability to generate weak contact and create a ton of whiffs is the exact type of pitcher profile that can thrive in a hitter-friendly environment.

I like this A's lineup a lot, but I'm full-on fading them tonight, given their poor matchup.

Pick: Athletics F5 Total Team Under
