MLB Home Run Picks for August 17

Mike Trout (+333)

at Athletics (SP: LHP Jeffrey Springs)

The Angels' righties are in a great spot. Jeffrey Springs has been a fantastic matchup for righty power this season, giving up 1.71 HR/9.

I have the true odds on Mike Trout under +300.

Jo Adell (+350)

at Athletics (SP: LHP Jeffrey Springs)

On top of the matchup against Springs, there is a weather factor involved in the Angels vs. A's game.

The weather isn't as hot as it usually is in Sacramento, but the wind is blowing out at 9 MPH, so it is a positive hitting environment for home runs.

I have the true odds on Jo Adell under +300.

Pete Alonso (+475)

vs Mariners (SP: RHP George Kirby)

Header Trailing Logo

This is strictly a price play on Pete Alonso.

George Kirby has been great at suppressing righty power this season, allowing 0.45 HR/9, but he's due for some pretty massive negative regression, and he's historically been a slightly below-average matchup for righty power.

The weather is good for hitting over in New York, with a 20% increase in homers according to WeatherEdge.

Getting Alonso at these odds in a slightly above-average spot is just silly. I have the true odds nearly 100 points lower.
